On April 6th, Xiang Yun Temple held a full-day "Filial Piety and Repayment of Gratitude Qingming Dharma Assembly," which attracted more than ninety devotees. Under the guidance of the monk, the congregation recited the "Compassionate Samadhi Water Repentance," sincerely repenting and making vows, dedicating the merit to their ancestors and deceased loved ones, and praying for the increase of blessings and wisdom in the present life.
The Abbot, the Venerable Jueji, explained the origins of this sutra, telling the story of the Tang Dynasty’s Master Wuda, who suffered karma due to a moment of arrogance. Fortunately, he was saved by Master Kanaka, resolving the karmic enmity between him and the historical figure Chao Cuo from ten lifetimes ago. This event led to the creation of this repentance text. The Venerable Jueji encouraged the congregation to have deep faith in cause and effect, maintain a repentant heart, and cultivate both blessings and wisdom.
The entire Dharma assembly was solemn and extraordinary. The devotees were deeply moved during the recitation and listening to the teachings, gaining a deeper understanding of the significance of filial piety, gratitude, and repentance of karma.
