A total of 115 LASA High School students, enrolled in Chinese language classes, visited Xiang Yun Temple on April 3rd and 4th under the guidance of their Chinese teacher, Valerie Zhong. The visit provided the Chinese class students an in-depth experience of traditional Chinese culture and Buddhist philosophy.
The event was divided into three parts:
First, in the Main Shrine, students learned about the history of the temple and watched a short film, *The Life of the Buddha*, to gain insight into Buddhism and the enlightenment of Shakyamuni Buddha.
Next, in the meditation hall, volunteers guided the students in learning meditation and breath-counting techniques, helping them understand the importance of calming the mind.
Finally, at the Tea Room, they participated in a tea ceremony session, where a Dharma teacher explained the integration of Zen and tea culture. Students also had the opportunity to taste the tea, experiencing mindfulness and awareness firsthand.
At the end of the visit, the teacher and students received a Dharma phrase, recited it together, and took a group photo to commemorate the visit. They left the temple filled with joy and inspiration.
