Xiangyun Temple in Austin Hosts Third Health Lecture

Reported by Renjian News – Benwu, Austin

In February, Xiangyun Temple invited Dr. Jennifer Q. Wu, MD, to hold a lecture on acupressure. Due to language translation limitations, Dr. Wu was invited back on March 22 to give the lecture in English, attracting nearly 60 English-speaking attendees.

The lecture introduced four key acupuncture points—Lieque (LU7), Sanyinjiao (SP6), Hegu (LI4), and Taichong (LR3)—which correspond to the lungs, spleen, liver, and intestines, respectively. Two of these points are located on the hands and two on the feet, and they are considered crucial gateways in the body’s meridian system. During the hands-on practice session, whenever Dr. Wu accurately located an acupoint, the audience reacted with amazement. Experienced local participants also enthusiastically assisted others in finding the correct positions.

Dr. Wu further explained the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, emphasizing that acupressure not only regulates physical health but also requires mental focus, which can enhance its therapeutic effects. In just over an hour, many attendees were pleasantly surprised by the possibility of self-care without the need for medication or surgery.

After the lecture, participants continued their discussions over tea at the Tea room, eagerly exchanging insights on acupressure, health, and nutrition, leaving with valuable takeaways
