At the beginning of the new year, Xiang Yun Temple launched the 2025 Health Lecture Series to promote wellness concepts, attracting nearly a hundred community residents to participate.
The first Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) health lecture was held on the morning of February 16 in the temple’s main shrine. The speaker, Dr. Qi-Lan Wu, has nearly 30 years of clinical experience in internal medicine and comes from a family with a rich medical heritage—her grandfather was a veteran TCM doctor with 60 years of practice. In the lecture, Dr. Wu elaborated on the TCM principle of "preventing illness before it occurs," emphasizing that prevention is more important than treatment. She also demonstrated how to integrate mindfulness with acupressure to regulate the body and mind. The lecture covered twelve key acupoints from the twelve meridians of the human body, providing detailed explanations on their locations, functions, and application techniques. Dr. Wu conducted live demonstrations, and participants actively engaged in practice, finding the session highly beneficial.
After the lecture, Dr. Wu interacted with attendees at the temple’s Water Drop Teahouse, patiently answering questions about meridian-based therapy and offering personalized health advice. She encouraged everyone to maintain consistent acupressure practice to achieve optimal health benefits. Xiang Yun Temple will continue to host diverse health lectures in the future to enhance community awareness of physical and mental well-being.
