On the morning of February 6 (Thursday), Fo Guang Shan Xiang Yun Temple welcomed 31 sixth-grade students and teachers from Paragon Pre-School for a cultural journey filled with Zen ambiance. Through diverse interactive experiences, the students explored Buddhist art and wisdom.
Venerable Jueji, the temple's supervisor, hosted the visiting students and teachers at the Dripping Water Café, sharing insights into traditional tea culture. With warm blessings and symbolic gifts, the visit was infused with a sense of Dharma joy.
The event began with a short film introducing Buddhist stories, providing the students with a foundational understanding of Buddhism. Following this, under the engaging guidance of volunteer Bob, the students deepened their knowledge of Buddhist culture through interactive activities such as turning the Dharma wheel, receiving card-based Dharma blessings, ringing the temple bell, tea tasting, and meditation.
During the tea ceremony, students and teachers discussed symbolic hand gestures, the deeper meaning of tea appreciation, and Buddhist motifs. One student reflected, "Observing tea is like gazing at the moon—filled with Zen tranquility."
This immersive cultural experience not only broadened the students' knowledge but also sparked deeper reflection and interest in Buddhism. The visit concluded with a group photo and a heartfelt farewell song, creating a warm and touching atmosphere.
Like spring rain silently nourishing the earth, Buddhist culture quietly sows the seeds of wisdom, awaiting the moment they sprout and take root.
