On the evening of January 26, Austin Xiangyun Temple held its annual Volunteer Appreciation Hotpot Banquet, with 60 bilingual volunteers participating in a warm and heartfelt gathering. The temple's supervising monk, Venerable Jue Ji, delivered the opening speech, expressing gratitude for the volunteers’ dedication and service.

The banquet featured various performances by volunteers, including guzheng, electronic keyboard, and guitar ensemble performances, as well as Chinese and English song renditions. A highlight of the evening was the collective singing of Lighting the Lamp, with participants using their phone flashlights in unison, creating a touching scene.

Chen Jia-Qing, head of the Chinese kitchen team, shared experiences on overcoming staff shortages and racing against time to prepare vegetarian meals for devotees, encouraging more people to participate. Mary Ann, head of the English team, spoke about breaking language and cultural barriers in order to serve the community. New members Hai Yi and Hai En also shared their experiences of volunteering.

As a token of appreciation and blessings, the monastics personally presented each volunteer with a commemorative gold coin engraved with the words "The path forward is open, and brightness lies ahead." The event concluded with Venerable Jue Ji leading the attendees in reciting A Prayer for Volunteers by the late Master Hsing Yun, marking a successful and meaningful end to the evening.
