Austin Xiang Yun Temple Open House New Year's Welcome

On January 18, Austin Xiang Yun Temple held an open day, hosted by the English branch of the Austin Buddha Light Association, which attracted more than 50 local residents, many of whom were first-time Buddhists

The event began at 9:30 a.m., and the volunteers led the guests to visit the temple and introduced Venerable Master Hsing Yun calligraphy, instrument and Buddhist art carvings on the walls of the hall. After a short meditation and precipitation of the soul, Venerable Jue Ji explained the lantern ceremony, and volunteers assisted the public in offering lanterns to the Buddha to express their respect. Then the volunteers introduced many activities in Xiang Yun Temple such as tea ceremony, yoga, Tai Chi and meditation courses. The guests also learned the four verses of Buddha's light and felt the wisdom and compassion of Buddhism.

Each visitor was given a gift bag containing Buddhist quotations, desserts and Buddhist manuals, and shares vegetarian meals. Finally, director Venerable Jue Ji presided over the tea ceremony and answered many questions from the guests. This activity successfully introduced Buddhism on earth to the local community and enhances the community's understanding and exchange of Buddhism. Some guests also signed up for March 16th the upcoming event for taking refuge in triple gem ceremony.
