Westminster Senior visits Xiangyun Temple

At 11:00 a.m. on 11/21, a total of 10 five wheelchair-held seniors from Westminster Senior, accompanied by the staff of the service center, came to visit the temple. This service center arranges for the senior(aged 75-85) to visit every year, but today's visitors are all first-time contact with Buddhism, and Ven. Jueji specially arranges volunteers to guide them carefully. First of all, a short film of the Buddhist biography was played in the Main shrine, and the local volunteer Bob Taylor explained that Prince Siddharta resolutely became a monk because he witnessed the suffering of old age, illness and death of sentient beings. After the prince realized under the Bodhi tree, he revealed to the public the wonderful method of getting away from hardships and pleasure. The elderly have to face the reality of old age and illness in daily life, so they are more enlightened after hearing the Buddha’s teachings. Volunteers took visitors to the outdoor Zen garden to enjoy the natural scenery, quietly bathe in the warm sunshine, and experience the peaceful atmosphere of the monastery. After Ven. Jueji presented the literary and creative souvenir of Master Xing Yun to the visitors, everyone happily took a group photo under the front entrance and returned with joy.
