In preparation for the upcoming 2024 North America BLIA Buddhism Exam, the youth at Xiang Yun Temple in Austin have been actively participating in pre-exam review sessions. The tutoring sessions, carefully organized by Sister Shi Lei, include review materials and are held every Saturday. The classes feature storytelling from Buddhist scriptures, and today (November 16), the teacher used interactive Q&A and quick-response activities to engage the students.
Participants, ranging in age from 4 to 15, sat attentively in the classroom, listened carefully, took notes, and enthusiastically joined discussions and shared their thoughts. The learning atmosphere was vibrant and dynamic. After a month of dedicated preparation, everyone is filled with anticipation and confidence for the exam. They hope to achieve excellent results to represent their temple and offer their most sincere Dharma offerings.
Venerable Yong Jia, who recently returned from a pilgrimage to India, not only taught a class on Dharma instruments for the youth but also shared memorable and profound experiences from the pilgrimage. The Venerable encouraged the youth to cherish every learning opportunity, open their ears in meditative concentration, and carefully understand the melodies and rhythms of each Dharma instrument. They were also urged to reinforce their learning through diligent practice after class.
