Twice a month, Xiangyun Temple visits Magellan International School to offer students kung fu martial arts and Tai Chi classes, introducing Chinese culture and Buddhist arts, and integrating them into the students' daily lives.
On October 11, kung fu coach Chen Rui, Tai Chi coach Qiu Jinchang, and Xiangyun Temple’ s cultural liaison Lily taught over 200 students in three sessions. The students learned the basics of martial arts and experienced how physical training can calm the mind and help them focus on the present moment.
Many students expressed after class that they hoped the Xiangyun Temple team could return weekly for lessons. The school also gave high praise to the courses and plans to bring students to visit the temple every other month to deepen their understanding of Chinese culture and Buddhism.
Looking ahead, Xiangyun Temple plans to expand its collaboration with the school next year to allow more students to benefit from the influence of Chinese and Buddhist culture!
