On September 18, Austin Xiang Yun Temple, in collaboration with the Animal Legal Defense Fund Student Chapter of UT Law at the University of Texas at Austin, held an Animal Law Workshop titled "Perspectives of an Animal Law Attorney: Farmed Animals, Law, and Careers in the Field." Twenty law students who defend animal welfare attended the Workshop.
The Animal Legal Defense Fund is a national non-profit organization that advocates for a plant-based diet free of any animal products. The president of the student chapter, Luo, Yang, who loves the vegetarian food at Xiangyun Temple, helped initiate this event to promote plant-based eating and advocate for animal protection.
The event featured Will Lowrey, the founder and Legal Counsel for Animal Partisan, who shared the importance of animal protection and the positive impact of a plant-based diet on safeguarding animals. His presentation helped students realize the significance of adopting a plant-based lifestyle.
Xiang Yun Temple provided a variety of delicious vegetarian dishes. Through this opportunity, they promoted the “International Buddha's Light Association's Veggie A Project” and the spirit of environmental protection to save the Earth. They look forward to more collaborations in the future, contributing to the protection of animals and the promotion of plant-based diets.
