On February 25th, two groups of monks from Vietnamese temples in Houston led their followers to Xiang Yun Temple for a spring visit.
The first group was from Pho Due Temple, led by Venerable Duc Thank and four other monks, along with over 70 followers, arrived at 9 AM. The second group was from the Teo Chew Temple, led by four monks with over 280 followers, who arrived at 2 p.m. To ensure that the visitors felt warmly welcomed, Venerable Jue Ji invited Vietnamese-speaking volunteers to assist, also prepared refreshments such as tangerine water, spring rolls, and snacks for the visitors.
Upon entering the temple, the monks first led their followers to devoutly worship and recite Sutra in main Shrine. Venerable Jue Ji and Yongjia also chanted the Heart Sutra together for blessings and dedication. Guests and hosts exchanged New Year's greetings. Venerable Jue Ji presented Vietnamese editions of Master Hsing Yun's books and calligraphy as gifts.
The visitors were impressed by carefully arranged decorations for the New Year in the main Shrine, taking photos enthusiastically. The turning Dharma wheel and wishing tree attracted crowds of people, all eager to receive Master Hsing Yun's teachings from the Dharma wheel and to hang their New Year's wishes on the wishing tree.
As the visitors departed, the Venerables and volunteers of Xiang Yun Temple lined up in front of the gate, singing "May the Buddha's Light Shine Upon You," conveying their most sincere blessings!
