On February 16th, Ms. Liu Liting, the Chinese teacher from Magellan International School, led 35 sixth- grade elementary students to visit Xiang Yun temple. The purpose was to expose the students to different cultural arts and diverse religious beliefs.
Venerable Jué Jì, the president of Xiangyun Temple, first briefly introduced the temple's founding origins, Buddhist rituals, and watched the animated short film "The Life of Buddha" to learn about Buddha. Then, Venerable Yǒngjiā and Venerable Yǐsōng led activities such as calligraphy practice, turning the Dharma wheel, treasure hunting, playing with "Three Good Toys," and striking the happiness bell. Through these activities, the students experienced the beauty of Chinese culture, the teachings of Master Hsing Yun, and the practice of the "Three Goods".
Venerable Jué Jì also introduced the visitors to the concept of "tea and Zen," covering everything from brewing tea to observing its color and how to taste tea. Both teachers and students showed keen interest.
The one-hour visit greatly benefited the students. With joy and positive energy, along with souvenirs and blessed ornaments, they returned home full of fulfillment!
